A boy and his dog.

Posted on May 29, 2007

Who doesn’t love a boy and his dog? It is the classic story of best friends. This little boy thought his dog was pretty cool and Walker, the family’s first baby, was as sweet as pie. I had so much fun photographing both of them. Walker was such a good dog, waiting patiently in the backyard and doing what we asked of him. And as for Mr. H, well he is as cute as they come. Full of chub and rolls… just the way I like them. :)

So here is a sneak peek for the family and for all of you.

Garrett’s Big Day

Posted on May 27, 2007

Yesterday we celebrated Garrett’s 6th Birthday. He asked for a “hiking party” and only wanted boys to come. He is all about that these days. Ahhh…. 6 year olds. So I booked his party at the Chattahoochee Nature Center and we got to go on a hike, see some cool animals and eat a big cookie! The boys had a great time. Here are some shots of the animals we saw.

If you haven’t visited the nature center you should. They have a beautiful area for walking, a small reptile house and a Beaver Habitat. As well as some very cool birds. All the animals are rescue animals and are all native to Georgia. I am not sure why I had never been there before but I will be taking my family back.

The only downside to the day was poor Ella fell out of her bed Friday night (at 3 am) and broke her collar bone. :( We waited till morning to take her to Scottish Rite so she missed most of the party. But we took her on her own hike afterwards. Poor girl, she is pitiful. Here she is in her brace. Lydia was so happy to see her as you can tell.

A fabulous family of 5!!!

Posted on May 25, 2007

Families of five hold a special place in my heart. I am sure you can guess why. Being a part of a family of five I understand the dynamic, the chaos and the fun of them. This particular family is very close to my heart for many reasons. I have been friends with mom for a while now and her youngest and my middle are only a day apart. We were in a playgroup together for a while and even though our kids are both in school now we still see each other for get togethers. So even though I have known them for a while this is my first session with them. I had so much fun with them all. The kids were silly and goofy and put up with all my requests in stride. The little guy, Mr. J, was a hoot to work with. I find those 3rd children are always such characters, mine is no exception. :)

I think that this family has the prettiest eyes I have ever seen. Mom’s eyes will stop you in your tracks and her kids all seem to have inherited them. The camera loved them. I had so many favorites but I have chosen a few to share with all of you.

Photographer’s notes
These were shot at one of my favorite spots. The light in the am is amazing and the possibilities are endless. This session was shot with my 50mm 1.2L lens mostly. I did use the 24-70mm 2.8L for some of the family shots near the end. I just bought that lens and it is becoming very useful in large groups.

Happy Birthday to my Boy!

Posted on May 24, 2007

Yesterday was a special day. It was my boy’s birthday. It is so hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that he is already 6 years old. I can still remember coming home from the hospital with him and thinking “what do I do with him now?”

It was a scary, exciting, wonderful, amazing time in my life. A true turning point. It was the first time I felt like I had knew what my purpose was. As soon as that sweet little 6 lb 10 oz ball of joy entered the world I knew that this was why I was here. To be a mother. It was a very emotional, life changing time in my life. It is quite a wake up call when you realize you are responsible for another humans life. That they depend on you for everything. But it was one responsibility I was honored to take on.

Sometimes I have a hard time remembering what it was like before we had kids. All the free time, sleeping in, leisurely dinners and spur of the moment movies. Now that was a different life all together. Today my life consists of cleaning up after little walking tornadoes, settling arguments over who touched what toy first, early morning wake ups with an energetic little guy snuggling up next to me in bed, and a schedule that is centered around who has eaten when and who needs to sleep. And you know what I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I feel so blessed to have these little people living in my house.

So I wanted to take a moment to share my sweet guy with all of you. He is a joy to photograph most days. By far one of the most photogenic kids I have ever pointed my camera at. I can say that since I am his mother you know. :) And when I think of Garrett these are the things that come to mind….

-funny
-sweet
-silly
-friendly
-compassionate
-happy
-sensitive
-emotional
and most of all wonderful!

Happy Birthday Buddy! We love you.

And for those of you who are interested I took this shot with my 50mm 1.2L - wide open, it is an in camera crop and I took this shot in the late afternoon/ early evening. It is my most recent favorite of him.

The word is out.

Posted on May 24, 2007

Since my post a few days ago I have gotten some requests for more sneak peeks. So for those of you who are waiting on your slideshows I am going to try and play a bit of catch up here to give you guys a glimpse of your sessions.

Here is Mr. J. I think this little guy may hold the record for the most sessions by AGR Photography. I have had the honor of capturing the first year and half of his life not once, not twice but lets see…. 5 times! :) I simple adore him and his most wonderful mother. She defines motherhood to me. Her love for this little guy shines through in every session. I just adore them both.

See you in the Fall little man.

Baby Boy #2 from the weekend

Posted on May 21, 2007

It was a weekend filled with 6-8 month olds. This little guy is such a sweetie. I photographed him a few months ago and the shot of him and his most beautiful mom is sort of famous on my site. :) His big bro gave me a run for my money but in the end I think I got some cute ones of him as well. I just adore this family. So sweet and so fun to work with. Mom is a bit of a super mom too. She has these two little guys and they are expecting their first girl in a few months! I am so excited to meet her!

My new mission

Posted on May 21, 2007

I have a new mission for my blog… to use it to show my clients a sneak peek at their session.

Photography is such a passion for me, it is become part of me in a way I never thought it would. It has changed the way I look at life, light and beauty. Because it feeds my soul so much I often run (not walk) to the computer to see what I have captured after each session. And even though I have loads of other work to do I always peek through and grab a few of my faves from each session. It is part of my obsession. :)
So, my new mission is to post those few images so that my clients get a preview of what is to come. I am so far behind in my client posts the past few months that I feel I may just have to start from here. I am working very hard at updating and streamlining my business and the blog it part of that. Of course I will also be posting updates, news and yes… my own kids. :)

So from the weekend.

First up was Baby W.

My 3rd time photographing him. 6 months old and such a cutie.
