Star Wars from a 3 year old.

This is the cutest little girl. I love her take on Star Wars and I could not stop smiling while I was watching it. As a mother of a Star War’s Nut I wanted to share this with you all. I think you will be amused.

Happy Leap Day!

Posted on February 29, 2008

Leap Years fascinate me. I think it is so cool to have an extra day in the year. I mean really isn’t that what most of us mother’s really need is an extra day here and there. I always say if I had 5 more hours in my day then I would be caught up. LOL! Anyway thought you might want to read something interesting about Leap Year. So check out this site, Time and Date, for some cool information on Leap Years and why we have them.

And I am a little behind on my sneak peeks but here is my assistant’s sweet 3 month old from this week. Yes, people he is 3 months old even though he looks like a 9 month old! This boy is huge. :)

Seniors, Seniors, Everywhere!

Posted on February 26, 2008

I am so enjoying my Senior sessions.  Miss Jillian did not disappoint.  She is a gorgeous girl who is a natural in front of the camera.  Her bright green eyes were amazing and I actually gasped when I opened her images.  These sessions are so refreshing for me, so different and it doesn’t hurt that I am getting a chance to photograph some very pretty people.  :)  So here is Jillian’s sneak peek… enjoy her.

I mean seriously people… look at her eyes!

Love these stairs… they were made for her.

I love how she mimics these columns.

A very cool dress on a very chilly day.  She was a total trooper though.  Never complained.

I have so many to go through it is really hard to make the cuts.  I will get the rest to you guys soon!

A Rat’s Tale…

Posted on February 26, 2008

or should it be tail?  I have been wanting to share this with all of my blog readers for a while.  Many of you know that I am an animal lover at heart.  I grew up riding horses and had LOTS of pets.  Well, when Ella was born we lost our last dog and we decided to not get anymore until the kids were older.  Knowing that we would probably have another one.  What we didn’t know is that the third child would turn out to be allergic to dogs and cats.  It was a sad day in the Robertson household when we got the results of those allergy tests, but I was so relieved to find out what was causing my baby girl’s horrible eczema.  She is a much happier girl now.  On the other hand the other girl, Miss Ella, wanted a pet so badly.  So we decided to get a hamster.  I figured at least it was confined to a cage.  So off to the petstore we went.  As we were browsing the rodent section of Petsmart we saw some rats in a cage… I was like “oh gross!  who would have a rat as a pet?  YUCK!”  But sort of like watching a train wreck I couldn’t take my eyes off of them.  They were so funny to watch interact and they kept coming up to the front of the cage as if to say “hello!”  I then started reading the age recommendations for rats vs. hamsters/ gerbils.  It was a difference of recommendations for a 5 year old child for a rat and a 7 -9 year old child for a hamster.  So I asked the very nice, but oh so young, employee why?  He said that rats were calmer, didn’t run away, didn’t bite, were trainable and were more social.

So I sat and watched them play and thought, well they are kind of cute.  Why not?  So we picked out two rats to bring home.  Both females, one black and white and one white.  We named them Annie and Clarabell.  For those Thomas  fans out there you will know why.  :)   So this was September when we got them and I tell you they are seriously a part of our family.  Ella simply adores them.  She loves to pet them, hold them and talks to them non-stop.  It is so cute.  When they see you walk in the room they will jump on the cage as to say “Hey, what’s going on?”  They are not smelly, fairly clean and don’t eat a ton.  They love our leftovers too.

Today we got Annie out, because she is the most sociable and played.  So I grabbed the camera and wanted to share our dear pets…. Annie and Clarabell.

This is Annie and Clarabell in their tin can home.  We just put this in for them and they love to snuggle together and sleep.

Ella holding her beloved Annie.

Annie loves to sit on our shoulders.

Yes, their tails still creep me out a bit.  But I have gotten more used to them.

The funniest part of today is when Annie made it all the way on top of Ella’s head.
This image is not really in focus because I was laughing so hard.

My first Senior Rep for 2009!!!

Posted on February 19, 2008

I am so excited about opening up my business to High School Seniors. They are so different to work with. How you ask? For starters they don’t run away, I don’t have to make silly noises, and they USUALLY listen. :) Now you all know I love the babies and I will never be able to stop photographing babies, but this is a whole new creative outlet for me. And I tell you I am so enjoying it so far.

So this weekend I got to meet Annice. She is my very first Senior Rep for the Class of 2009. She was so very fun to work with. Not to mention drop dead gorgeous. All 5′11″ of her. :) As most of you know I am not nearly that tall… not by a long shot so my trusty step ladder was certainly my friend. Annice is a very active in her church, Birmingham United Methodist, and decided she would like to have her session there. I thought it was a perfect setting. It is a beautiful church on breathtaking piece of property and we had fun exploring the land and the areas around the church.

So here is your sneak peek Annice (and mom). I will have the rest to you very soon. And again thanks for choosing me as your photographer.

Annice is a beautiful girl… inside and out.

Just look at her amazing eyes!

This may be my favorite shot. She kept telling me how she loved the woods,
and I just loved how the light was coming into the forest behind her.
It was like we were meant to be there at that moment.

A very cool outdoor chapel on the property.

A little fun with processing with her in a VERY fun dress.

Um… can you say gorgeous!

Thank you again Annice for allowing me to capture this very special time in your life.

A new personal challenge.

Posted on February 18, 2008

For those of you who have know me for a while you know that in a previous life (pre-kids) I was a workout crazy woman! I was a personal trainer for about 3 years and taught not only one on one sessions but also group Spinning. I so enjoyed that part of my life. I loved working out… the high it gives you, the feeling of accomplishment and the obvious physical benefits. Well during my first pregnancy I was ordered to stop working out because of some complications so I stopped…. cold turkey. And after Garrett was born I walked but never really got back into my workout routine. Fast forward 8 years and I still have no workout routine. I missed it desperately and really wanted to get back to that part of my life. Last Spring I joined a local gym and I had grand plans of starting back, but life, kids and other things get in the way. I just could never make it work for me. So this Holiday season I decided I would change this. I didn’t know how but I knew it would change.

Then one day I was visiting with a client and she started to tell me about this great workout program she was doing called CrossFit. I had never heard of it but was very interested. I did some research and found that it was in a great location for me and was a shorter 45 minute class. So I decided to give it a go. The first day was horrid! I mean I was so sore that I couldn’t walk for 3 days without feeling the pain. But each workout I was less sore and I was at least able to function the next day. The workouts are very “back to the basics” as I like to say. Push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, rowing, squats, lunges, jumping rope. It is a comprehensive workout that incorporates cardio and strength training all in one. It is hard for me to explain exactly how it works but I am here to tell you that I am totally HOOKED! I love it and I can already tell a difference. I am so excited to find something that doesn’t involve 2 hours of my time and is one of the most effective workouts I have ever tried. So I wanted to share it with you. The official CrossFit site is here at

To find a crossfit near you go to

The local crossfit I go to is CrossFit of North Fulton. Check them out here Kim and Brad are AWESOME and so wonderful to work with. If you live near me check out their site and go give it a try.

So my new personal challenge is to once again make fitness a part of my life. I want to show my kids the importance of staying active and healthy and I want to do this for myself.

And the reason I am writing this post is to share this wonderful program with all of my readers.

So go check them out and go GET FIT!

A new Baby Planner

Posted on February 18, 2008

I am so excited this family decided to sign up for the Baby’s First Year Plan. They are so wonderful to work with, have the cutest little girl and appreciate photography as much as I do. So you can see why I am so happy that I will see them 3 times this year. I first met them when M was pregnant with Baby M. And then I got to meet Baby M in the Fall for her newborn session. She was the sweetest little newborn that slept wonderfully for me. And this session was no different. She is 5 months old now and still so sweet and pleasant. She did not cry one time till the very end when she politely told us she was done and ready for her bottle and nap. So here is the S family’s sneak peek of their little girl. You will be seeing a lot of her in the months to come.

And some of you might remember these family shots on the bed…  I wanted to include this
collage because the family sadly lost Maximus, the Boxer, a very short time ago.

They wanted a collage of the family shots I got to remember him.
He was such a sweet dog and a huge part of their family.
He will be missed.

I am back and slowly thawing…

Posted on February 13, 2008

So I got back late Sunday evening from my most fantastic and wonderful trip to Minnesota! I went to a photography workshop / get together with some of my online photographer friends. I got to hang out with 13 of the most amazing people. We laughed, talked photography, laughed, slept (a little), talked more photography, took pictures, laughed, and tried our best to stay warm. I learned so much from these amazing people. The workshop was hosted by the ubber talented and most generous Mark Stein. He has a rockin studio in St. Cloud, MN. Mark and his wife Stacy run the studio together and they were inspiring to say the least. Mark is very well know around his parts for his Senior Photography and if you go and check out his work you will see why. He set up for us to have 3 Senior models to practice shooting and to watch him work with them was awesome. As a photographer that is the one thing that we don’t get to do very often. Watch other photographers interact with their clients. It was so fun to be able to do this. We also had one very cute baby model to practice with too. She was the daughter of Shannon Steffens and came along for the ride.

I can’t say enough about this trip. I grew so much personally and professional from the advice, interaction and lessons from them. It was worth the -15 degree temps we endured. :) And for those of you like me that have never been in weather that cold, it is not just cold… it is PAINFUL! If you skin isn’t covered it will get hurt! WOW! I have a whole new perspective on what cold means.

So I wanted to share not only an awesome group shot taken by Stacy Stein but also a few I grabbed.

Here is the whole gang…

Back row: Ali Hohn, Kelly Bennett, Mark Stein, Kristin Franke, Alicia Thiede, Natalie Bacon, and Martha Bravo
Kenneth Deboe, Shannon Steffens (and Baby K), me, Jodi Friedman, Faith Essary, Kriste Kulik and Carolyn Jones

Be sure and check out their sites for more photos from the weekend or just to see their amazing work.

Miss Carolyn chillin in the window at the end of a long day.

Jodi and I… we are convinced we are twins separated at birth. :) We had the same
bag, phone, boots, laptop, the list goes on and on.
Jodi is an awesome girl and a wonder in PS! Check out her site for some cool PS tricks, tips and actions.

Baby K got in on the action too!

How could I resist photographing this sweetie!

All tuckered out!

Miss M… one of our amazing Senior models. Isn’t she gorgeous?

Miss E. Stunning beauty with a real gift in front of the camera.
Does she look 17 to you? Yeah, me neither.

I can’t say enough about all the wonderful people I met and how much I enjoyed myself.

Till we meet again my friends. :) See you online.

I mean traveling… HA! I am leaving tomorrow for a wonderful getaway and photography workshop. The only downside is I am going to Minnesota and it is only going to get into the single digits the whole weekend. Oh well, I won’t care because I will be submerged in photography. I am excited to go and spend some quality time with some amazing photographers. I will be returning home on Sunday and I will be able to be reached by cell phone or email.

A big shout out to my hubby who is taking on all three kids alone. I am not worried though. He is totally capable and often takes care of them while I am working. So they will all be fine while Mommy is gone. :) Look out for some photos from the trip next week.

Have a great weekend everyone!

And because I hate to post with pictures here are some shots of the girls that I did for Valentine’s Day.
